An American film and television actor and writer, born in New York City, New York, USA, as Russell Richard Bender Jr. Among his most important works are The Twilight Zone (1959), War of the Colossal Beast (1958), It Conquered the World (1956), and Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow (1959). Ross Bender played the roles of lawmen in Western films and scientists in low-budget science fiction films. He also played the roles of military officers. Bender began his artistic career by writing detective stories for magazines, then he served for several years in the US Army, and after his discharge, he turned to acting and writing scripts for cinema and television. He died in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA, on August 16, 1969.
