A French actress of Polish and German origins, born in a prison in Bavaria, Germany, after her Polish mother and German father were arrested on charges of communist propaganda. She was then sent to a Swiss orphanage without bearing a surname before her mother searched for her after they were released. Her father left for Spain to join the Republicans after his release, and she and her mother settled in Paris, France, in 1940. Dorothée participated in the performances of the Châtelet in L'Auberge du Cheval-Blanc in France after director Maurice Lehmann nominated her for it. Her credits include Cléo from 5 to 7 (1962) and The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964).
