She won the Film Award in Gold for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in 1962 for her roles in Zwei unter Millionen and Die Schatten werden länger. She married actor and producer Götz George in 1966. They had one child and divorced in 1976. She then married actor Jürgen Schmidt in 1995 until his death in 2004, and they had one child.
