American actress and writer, born on November 18, 1919, in San Francisco, California, USA. She got married twice and had two children. She graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1942. Her mother was a director in a community theater group in Omaha and helped her appear on Broadway after her graduation in 1942. She performed in several plays during the period of World War II, and after the end of the war, she entered the world of cinema and played supporting roles. When her film career did not flourish she turned to television work during the forties until the eighties. She is known for General Electric Theater (1953-1962), Mommie Dearest (1981), and The Big Heat (1953). She died on November 27, 2005, in Santa Monica, California, USA.
