An American dancer and actress, born in Roxbury, Massachusetts, USA, on February 15, 1909, as Stella Fortier. Among her most important works are Oh, Susanna! (1936), Cavalry (1936), Doubting Thomas (1935), and Born to Fight (1936). In the 1930s, she appeared as a leading actress in several Western films opposite Gene Autry and George O'Brien.
Frances Grant performed her dances in hotels and nightclubs before appearing in Warner Bros. shorts, then signed with 20th Century Fox. She worked in the theater after high school, and in the early 1930s, she became Hal Le Roy's dance partner in the Ziegfeld Follies of 1931. She began her film career in 1934 and played leading roles in Western B movies. She also worked as a dance director in several films. She died in Lexington, Massachusetts, USA, on February 20, 1982, at the age of 73.
