An Austrian-born British actor, born in Vienna, Austria, as Peter Ihle. He was of German-Turkish parentage and moved to Britain in 1938. During World War II, he broadcast German translations of Winston Churchill's speeches to Germany on the BBC's European Service. He is known for Walk a Crooked Mile (1961), Pursuit of the Graf Spee (1956), and Bhowani Junction (1956). He was married to Maxine Wolpert. He died on October 29, 1966, in London, England. |
