Frederick Valk was a German-born Jewish theater, film, and television actor of Czech-Jewish descent who fled to the United Kingdom in the late 1930s to escape Nazi persecution and became a naturalized British citizen. He played various roles and also played most of the leading roles in Shakespeare's plays, including the role of Shylock in the play "The Merchant of Venice". He died at the age of 61 in London, England, United Kingdom, on July 23, 1956.
