Her mother was a librarian and her father was an insurance salesman, and they separated when she was 6 months old. She started modeling at the age of 11 and achieved great success before getting her first movie role. Vikki Dougan won several beauty pageants, including the Miss Coney Island pageant, and throughout the 1950s and 1960s, she dated many Hollywood stars, including Frank Sinatra and Glenn Ford.
