A British-Canadian soldier, singer, radio producer, journalist and actor, born as Stanley Herbert Maxted in Folkestone, Kent, England, UK. He attended the Parkdale Collegiate Institute in Toronto, where he won two scholarships and excelled in sports. He also studied singing under a voice coach. He enlisted in the army during the war and transferred to Europe, where he was injured in the battles and was exposed to gas, which affected his breathing. He was advised to sing to strengthen his lungs. He achieved great success in singing in Canada. He married Olga Juhler (1921-1946), and they had four children. He then married Charlotte Elgitha Veronica Boswell Elliott. Some of his notable works are The Final Test (1953), Never Let Me Go (1953) and Across the Bridge (1957). He died in Chelsea, London, England, UK on May 10, 1963, at the age of 67.
