An American dancer, choreographer and actress, born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, USA. She graduated from New Bedford High School and opened a dance studio. During the war years, she went to Hollywood and became the protégé of Gene Kelly. She won a Tony Award for her role in Broadway's The Pajama Game in 1955. She was married twice and had two children. Among her notable credits are Invitation to the Dance (1956), The Pajama Game (1957), and On the Town (1949). She died in Saddle Brook, New Jersey, USA on May 10, 1964 of bronchial pneumonia, at age 39. |
