An American producer, screenwriter, actor, and journalist of Polish descent. He was born in Quackenbrück, Germany. He and his family moved to the United States in 1952. In 1969, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from Johns Hopkins University. He studied journalism in college and worked as a reporter for the Baltimore Afro-American newspaper after graduating. He obtained a Master of Arts from American University in 1973 after starting his first academic job in 1972 as an assistant professor in the Department of Communications at the University of the District of Columbia, where he remained until 1980. He continued to write for national and international media while he was a teacher. He taught film at Columbia University and was an assistant professor in Hofstra University's Department of Communication Arts from 1980 to 1986. Before transitioning into screenwriting and contributing to the movie Variety (1983), he started his artistic career with minor actor parts and production work. He later wrote and produced numerous film and television projects, including Two Evil Eyes (1990), America's Most Wanted (1991-1992), and Island of the Dead (2000). He passed away on May 21, 2022, in Manhattan, New York City, United States, after a battle with cancer.
