Japanese actor, born in Kumamoto, Japan. He appeared in Hollywood films during the thirties and forties and is best known for providing secondary roles of Chinese characters. He immigrated to the United States in 1907, and in 1942 during World War II, he and his family, along with many Japanese Americans and residents, were interned in resettlement camps, and released in 1945. He is known for Island of Lost Souls (1932), The Letter (1940), and Adventures of Captain Marvel (1941). He died in Gardena, California, USA, on August 10, 1970, of congestive heart failure, at the age of 76.
