• An Irish actress and missionary, born in Dublin, Ireland. She worked extensively in theater during the thirties and forties before working in cinema and television. She immigrated...Read more to the United States in the early fifties. She gave up acting for a while and worked as a missionary in Rhodesia, where she was a secretary to the bishop for several years, and when she fell ill, she returned to her home country of Ireland. She returned to acting with voice work, then made her final appearance in the series The Irish R.M. (1984). Among her notable works are Darby O'Gill and the Little People (1959), Holiday for Lovers (1959) and Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1957). She died in Dublin, Ireland on October 18, 1989, at age 77.
