An American actress, born in Canandaigua, New York, USA. She married Johnson Isaac Smeyne in 1920, they had a daughter, and he remained with her until his death. Among her most important works are So You Want a Television Set (1953), Two Sisters From Boston (1946), Pillow to Post (1945), and The Pigeon (1969). Her unique appearance and extra weight helped create one of the most interesting careers in Hollywood. She would send her photos to directors and write down her weight on the back, to get roles reserved for larger girls, which launched one of the professions most interested in additional roles for women. To get more roles, she made her signature dance and she got many roles, from a truck driver to an opera singer. She died in Los Angeles, California, USA, on February 12, 1979, at the age of 77.
