American actor, director, and writer, born in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. He appeared in both the silent and sound eras of cinema, and he was considered one of the greatest actors of the 1920s. He began his artistic activity in the theater and entered cinema in 1911 after winning the title of the most handsome man. Among his most important works are Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ (1925), The Phantom Planet (1961), Romeo and Juliet (1916), and Sabrina (1954). Bushman married four women and had six children. He died in Pacific Palisades, California, USA, on August 23, 1966, from a heart attack, at the age of 83.
