An American actor of German origin, born in Albany, New York, USA. Among his most important works are I Married a Monster from Outer Space (1958), Anatomy of a Murder (1959), North by Northwest (1959), McCloud (1972-1977). His distinctive voice first made his mark on the radio. He was married and had 4 children. He died in Burbank, California, USA, on February 13, 1990, from a viral infection, at the age of 79.
