A Danish actor, born in Aarhus, Denmark. He began his career as a stage actor, then worked in European silent cinema before immigrating to the United States in 1927. He was prolific, playing the roles of waiters, doormen, drivers, and hotel managers. Although he was Danish, he often played German characters in American cinema. Among his notable credits are Judgment at Nuremberg (1961), Sullivan’s Travels (1941), The Last Warning (1928) and Don Quixote (1926). He died of pneumonia in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA, on May 22, 1975, at age 90.
