American actor Robert Deniro has stated that he would like to direct three more films, one or two of which would be sequels to the title “The Good Shepherd”, De Niro’s second work as a director. The statement came at a press conference held on Friday as part of the 35th Toronto International Film Festival to present his latest acting role in “Stone”,a production which saw him perform alongside Edward Norton and Mila Jovovich. In his statement De Niro said that there are a few things he wants to do as a director, adding that he has always wished he could direct three more movies at the most – one or two of which would be sequels to “The Good Shepherd.” De Niro’s debut as a director came in 1993 when he directed “A Bronx Tale”. Later in 2006, De Niro directed “The Good Shepherd”. It should be noted that in “Stone” which was directed by John Curran, De Niro assumes the character of Jack Mabrey, a parole officer who is about to retire. His last case is that of Gerald “Stone” Creeson who is portrayed by Edward Norton. Gerald tries to use Mabrey’s wife, portrayed by Mila Jovovich, to gain his trust. At the press conference, Norton stated that he could portray the character of Stone with ease due to the clear context that his character resides in and thanks to the help he was given in getting to know a prison environment in Detroit. On her part, Jovovich has stated that she was instantly attracted to the character of Stone’s wife and that she was elated to hear that Curran had selected her for the role.
