Leila E’lwy and Yosra In Fight Against Hunger

Performers Leila E’lwy and Yosra have taken part in a UN sponsored rally against global poverty and hunger. The rally took place at the site of the pyramids and brought together 500 volunteers who are taking part in a campaign to spread awareness about the need to help one billion persons suffering from hunger across the world.The campaign boasts the slogan “Stop and do something… Gain other’s attention”. Leila E’lwy gave the official address at the rally which was directed to world leaders who will be gathering at the UN headquarters in New York to discuss what has been achieved with regards to the millennium development goals and in particular those goals that pertain to hunger and poverty. The rally called for world leaders to aid the UN in its efforts in this field that aim to assist 500 million persons in avoiding hunger and poverty by the year 2015.Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities – Zahi Hawass – was also present at the rally. As were Mohamed Al Sawwy – President of Al Sawwy Cultural Wheel, Dr. Ahmed Abou Seif – representative of the Ministry of Religious Endowments and Reverand Sirour Paulus as representative of the Coptic Orthodox Church.
