Mariam Faris: I did not Imitate Nelly and Sherihan

Artist Mariam Faris has responded to criticism that has followed her hosting a trivia show during the course of the holy month of Ramadan on “Al Qahira wa Al Nas”. Specifically, Mariam was responding to accusation that she was copying artists Sherihan and Nelly and has said in that regard : “I am surprised at that campaign which must have originated from people that perhaps did not watch the trivia show properly. That is because I have not copied anyone and was rather doing my very best to be myself. I have continuously invested a great deal of work and energy with the hope of presenting a show that suits everyone’s tastes without exceptions. Thanks to God, I have reaped the reward for that. However, there are those who do not wish well for others and thus work to spread doubts hoping to thereby dent the success and achievement of others. I do not wish to engage in such a quarrel because work for me is more important than responding to other’s criticisms. However I reserve my respect for criticism that is based on substance and thus aims to facilitate improvement rather than mere slander.”
