Renowned American film star Leonardo Di Caprio is undergoing preparations to produce and star in a new cinema title which will delve into the mysterious circumstances surrounding the assassination of former US president John Kennedy in 1963 and the possible involvement of suspect “Lee Harvey Oswald”. Lee Harvey Oswald was himself murdered two days after the assassination. The truth behind the Kennedy assassination, together with the identity of any conspirators who may have been involved in the plot, has yet to be revealed. Di Caprio’s latest film project is based on a book titled “Legacy of Secrecy: The Long Shadow of the JFK Assasination”. That work was authored by American historian and writer Lamar Waldron. Di Caprio’s film and the book upon which it is based posit a theory which states that the mafia was behind Kennedy’s assassination. Di Caprio is set to act in the film, portraying the role of an FBI agent. The film is set to be released in 2013.Worthy of note is that the Kennedy assassination has been the subject of several films in the past the best known of which was director Oliver Stone’s masterpiece “JFK”. Kevin Costner assumed the leading role in that title which was released in 1991. Much like Di Caprio’s recent project, Oliver Stone’s “JFK” also presented a theory that is in conflict with conventional accounts of the circumstances surrounding Kennedy’s assassination.
