Hisham E’issawy: I have made some Compromises so that “Al Khoroug men Al Qahira” (“Escape from Cairo”) would See the Light of Day

In an exclusive statement to “” screenwriter and director Hisham E’issawy has indicated that the screenplay for his latest film “Al Khoroug men Al Qahira” was turned down by regulatory authorities due to the boldness with which the film’s central theme is presented. E’issawy then proceeded to shoot the film’s remaining scenes despite harassment by state security.Hisham has also added: “Turning back is no longer a feasible option for I have completed filming more than 50 % of the title’s scenes. It is for this reason that I have approached regulatory officials and offered compromises, or rather, sacrificed a few scenes in order to obtain the go-ahead which I have attained.”
