Khaled Abou Al Nagga Reportedly Angry with Regards to Events at Wahran

A number of Arab actors, lead by Khaled Abou Al Nagga, have departed from the Algerian city of Wahran on the morning of Friday, December 24th. The members of the delegation were reportedly annoyed with the results of the Wahran Arab Film Festival as most of the awards at the event were given to Tunisian and Algerian works. Moreover, some have levied accusations against the Committee accusing it of not being impartial.The 4th round of the Wahran Film Festival concluded on Thursday, the 23rd of December with an announcement by the Judge’s Committee that the Tunisian title “Al Nakheel Al Gareeh” (“Wounded Palms”) was awarded the festival’s highest honor “Al Ahqar Al Zahby”. “Al Saha” (“The Arena”), which is a title from the hosting country of Algeria, was given the awards for best male performance and best female performance. Lebanese title “Shatty ya Deeny”, which is credited to filmmaker Baheeg Hougeig, received the award for best director. Moreover Iraqi film title “Karentina”, credited to Ou’day Rasheed, received a special award from the judge’s committee.Khaled Abou Al Nagga has declined comment on the results of the festival and stated: “I have no opinion in this matter as I did not watch the works which took part in the competition due to the fact that I arrived on the last day of the festival to participate with ‘Microphone’. The committee is free to hand out its awards to whomever it chooses.”
