Director Khaled Youssif has decided to try his hand at a new experience next Ramadan. In particular the director intends to present the television show “Shaye men al-Khouf” (“Element of Fear”) which is scheduled to air in Ramadan 2011. Youssif has commented that the title is appropriate given the program’s content which will devote each episode to the discussion of a fear related topic. Moreover, Youssif will adapt the music from the cinema title by the same name to serve as the TV show’s musical theme. The director has decided to postpone film work on his new television production pending the completion of work on his latest film title “Kaff al-Qammar”. The new program is set to air on Egyptian television and on a satellite network and will feature discussions between Khaled and guests – who will vary between each episode – on subjects related to fear. In particular the hosted discussions will center on fears of commitment and spinsterhood, the relationship between fear and attempts by states to engineer fear, fear of death and islamophobia. Worthy of note is that “Kaff al-Qammar” will air in the upcoming month of April. The work features the talents of Wafaa A’mer, Khaled Saleh, Ghada A’bd Al Razeq, Hassan al-Radad, Hourieh Farghaly and Sabry Fawaz. The title’s screenplay and dialogue are credited to Nasser A’bd Al Rahman whilst directing was assumed by Khaled Youssif. The film relates the story of a mother named “Qammar” who has five sons. Thus throughout the film Qammar expends a great deal of effort in trying to protect her children and solve their problems.
