Mahmoud Hemeida Returns to Television Following an Absence that has Lasted 20 Years

Following an extended absence from TV dramas that has reached 20 years, performed Hemeida has finally decided to assume the lead in the new series “al-Neel al-Tayeb” (“The Kind Nile”) which employs a screenplay penned by Ahmed Khedr who also directs the work.The series relates the life of a man who lives in a rural community and is among the major figures in the town of Kafr al-Sheikh. Thus the series displays the major changes that have occurred in society as the man has gone through several societal phases beginning with the 1960s and going all the way up to today.Worthy of note is that Hemeida is preparing to commence shooting the new series towards the end of February 2011. The rest of the programs cast have not been chosen yet. The series is planned to be shot between Kafr al-Sheikh, Cairo, Luxor and Aswan.Hemeida’s last television work was 1990’s “al-Wassia”. The screenplay for that title was authored by Khalil Hassan Khalil while Isma’il A’bd Al Hafez directed the work.
