Director Amr Salama has already released his movie “Assma” and it was shown in some of the International festivals, most recently, London Film Festival a few days ago. It has not been determined yet when the movie will play in cinemas across Egypt. The hesitancy as to when the movie should play in Egypt comes from the fact that the director wanted to play the movie in as many international festivals as possible, because if it enters the cinemas it will not be considered in a festival. The second reason lies in the degree of seriousness of the movie. The movie is not similar to types of movies played during Eid or summer. It is very individualistic in its components, which means it will require a certain independent time to be released in the cinemas. Very much like Amr Salama’s first movie “Like Today”.The movie is about a working woman “Assma” who is forced to work and support her family after her husband dies only to discover that she has AIDS. From there, she is exploited through the way society perceives her and considers her an outcast. The movie is starring Hend Sabry, Hani Salama, Maged El Kadawani and Ahmed Kamal , and it is written and directed by Amr Salama.
