4 Egyptian movies compete for the Oscars.

The nominating committee for Egyptian film chose several films to participate in the Oscars for best foreign film that were produced this year to see which one will represent Egypt this year.The movies are “Microphone” for director Ahmed Abdulla, “678” for director Mohamed Diab, “Hawi” for director Ibrahim El Batoot, “Yearning” for director Khaled El Hagar.The committee that was elected by the national center for Cinema is made up of 8 members, they are: director Dawood Abdel Sayed, Magdi Ahmed Ali and Hala Khalil. Critics Youssef Sherif Rizk Allah, Rami Abdel Razek and Yasser Moheb and actor Khaled El Sawi.The final movie that will be chosen will enter a draw with 70 more movies from many different countries, then 10 movies only will be chosen from the 70. From the 10 movies only the 5 outstanding ones will remain for the final celebration.The most recent Egyptian movie that participated in the Oscars was “Messages from the Sea” by director Dawood Abdel Sayed that was chosen last year but did not make it past level one.
