Yesterday, during the final hour of the Alexandria Festival wretchedness overwhelmed the scene of the festival due to Military police detaining third year art academy student Fady Mostafa Saeed for more than a month now. This whole episode exploded when the cast and crew of the movie “Palm of the Moon” in specific director Khaled Youssef went on stage along with actors Khaled Saleh and Sabry Fawaz wearing t shirts with “No to Military Trials for civilians” following them Magdi Ahmed Ali and Iman El Bahr Darwish in solidarity. During Khaled Youssef’s speech he assured that he was not here to receive a trophy but rather to appeal to SCAF to release Fady Saeed. He also urged both the Ministers of Media and Culture to play a bigger role in moving this whole issue forward.Khaled threatened that many sectors in the media will go on strike if Fady’s issue was not resolved; Khaled is personally holding any more work until the student photographer is released.Critic Nader Adly director of the festival announced that everyone working in the field of cinema has decided upon 2 declarations.First, to cancel the censorship on art work and replace that with a group of intellects and psychologists that can accurately evaluate the work. Second, is the release of Fady Saeed.
