Director Dawood Abdel Sayed called upon all the movie makers to discuss the serious problem of international distribution of movies, which has always been a case and has become even more severe after the revolution, to the point that it has affected the whole industry of movie making.International distribution is considered one of the most profitable resources for the cinema industry that allows it to continue and grow, especially in the Arab and Gulf region which are considered the biggest market for Egyptian movies so far.In a statement he made to the Middle East broadcasting agency, Abdel Sayed added that the problem is intensifying now that the demand has declined, which in turn minimized the funding for the movies, and caused financial problems. In the midst of all the economic instability, very few low cost movies have been produced and that, he believes will affect the reputation of movie making in Egypt. Those who work in the movie industry and major production companies should find solutions to such problems before it’s too late.Dawood Abdel Sayed’s most recent movie was “Messages from the Sea” staring Asser Yassin and Basma in 2010, which was nominated to represent Egypt for best foreign movie in the Oscars, but unfortunately could not make it past round one.
