There's been quite a commotion stirred up because of Magda Alroumy quitting singing in the "Bokra" operette only one day before commencing its recording in Doha. Her media managers deemed it sufficient to say that the reason for that were some disputes between her and the production company, without giving details about the nature of these disputes.A number of media sources have lately disclosed that the reason for her withdrawal from performing in the operette that is being produced by Quincy Jones, was because it will be appearing on Israeli TV screens, which is a matter that she is utterly against. When she demanded for that band to be removed from the contract, and the producer refused, she quit singing in the production, and in return has ceded the words she participated in writing. On the other hand, the Qatary business man Badr Gaafar, who is participating in producing the operette alongside Quincy Jones, has decided to put his financial returns from the production out to charity. The focus of the charity is supporting nourishment and eductaion for children of a number of Arab countries including Palestine. This raises some curiosity about the truth behind showing the production on Israeli TV, and the position of the Arabs participating in its production from the matter. The "Bokra" operette is written by Magda Alroumy and Habib Younes, composed by Kathem Alsaher, and includes a large number of stars like Tamer Hosny, Sherine Abdulwahab, Nancy Agram, Asala, Hussein Algismy, Jannat, Ahlam, Saber Alribaey, Diana Kirzon and other singers. It will also be directed by the Syrian Malik Alakkad, the late director, Mostafa Elakkad's son.
