During the Abu Dhabi International cinema festival, producer Mohamed Hefzi announced that his movie “Tahrir 2011: The Good, The Bad and the Politician” will soon be released commercially in Egypt. This movie is the first of its kind to be released commercially in Egypt. It is not common to play documentaries in theaters and cinemas, but in this case, all the rules have been broken. This particular movie has been chosen to play commercially given its significant importance in the history of Egypt. So far it has achieved awards in Venice, Toronto and Abu Dhabi International Cinema Festivals. All of this success mingled with importance, makes it only natural to play the movie commercial even on a small scale. Hefzi along with producer Gaby Khoory have agreed to release the movie end of November to play in 3 theaters, so later on it will play on Al Jezeera Channel, now that the channel has its exclusive rights. The movie “Tahrir 2011” is about the visions of 3 directors (Tamer Ezzat, Iten Amin and Amr Salama) towards what happened during the 18 days of the Egyptian revolution until the stepping down of ex President Mubarak. Each one of them portraying one side of the revolution. One shows “The Good” which is demonstrated in the average citizen and how he reacted towards all these events. The other is “The Bad” demonstrated in the police force and how they handled their side. The third vision is “The Politician” offering a psychological analysis of the mental state of mind that ex President Mubarak possessed during the crisis and how it eventually led to his downfall.
