Dubai Film reviews the history of cinema in 900 minutes

After screening the film of the Irish director Mark Cousins “The Story of film: An Odyssey” in Toronto Film Festival, the management of Dubai International Film Festival decided to receive the film in its next session, to review over 900 minutes of the history of cinema.Cousins’ ambition came from his work in film criticism, watching thousands of movies from around the world, and his attempt to trace the link between them, the important turning points that led to the development of films over a hundred years, from silent movies to 3D movies, through his research that lasted for years, he presented in 15 hours the story of cinema as he sees it.He meets through his work, which will become a classic historian of the cinema in few years many world directors and writers, who present different aspects of the seventh art, among them Martin Scorsese, Paul Schrader, the brothers Quinn and Amitabh Bachchan, also Zhang Limo, Bernardo Bertlucci and other symbols of cinema.It is worth mentioning that Cousins will review within what he will provide in his Odyssey the great Egyptian director Youssef Chahine’s films, side of the film deals with directing codes that influenced the art of cinema outside Europe and America, along with the Japanese Legend Yasujiro Ozu and the Danish Benjamin Christensen.The Festival started from today 7th of December continuing throughout this week, and ending on the 14th of December.
