Honoring Forest Whitaker in the International Film Festival the eleventh in Marrakech

The International Film Festival the eleventh in its sixth night “last Wednesday” honored the American actor and director Forest Whitaker who won the Academy Award in 2007.His honoring had a reverberation on the festival attendees where the American actress Jessica Chastain member of this round arbitration committee said: “Honoring this artist is a coronation for his wonderful creative path, adding that he is one of the few actors that received a large number of awards and highlighted that Whitaker devoted his life to art with his wonderful performance of great movie directors like Martin Scorsese, Richard Benjamin and Stephen Hopkins”.He expressed his happiness for the honoring and being in the charming Marrakech city, he also expressed his gratitude to King Mohamed VI and Prince Moulay Rachid president of the festival, he considers this honoring a recognition of his contributions to cinema and a tribute to the various performed roles throughout his career.Whitaker is a cinematic, television and theatrical actor and a director; he received Best Actor Award in 1988 at “Kan” Festival for his role in “Bird” film for the director Clint Eastwood.He also earned Academy Award in 2007 for his role in “The Last King of Scotland” movie where he played the role of the former Ugandan President Idi Amin Dada, to be the forth African American holds the Oscar after Sydney Poitier, Denzel Washington and Jamie Foxx.Forest Whitaker’s latest work is “My Own Love Song” for Olivier Dahan, he experienced directing in his first directed movies “Waiting to Exhale” with Whitney Houston and Angela Bassett and “Hope Floats” movie with Sandra Bullock and Gena Rowlands.
