Infamous poet Abdel Rahman El Abnoody presented the poem “Inmates’ laughs” to the political activist Alaa Abdel Fatah as a form of courtesy, after he was transferred to the military prosecutor. It was singer Ali El Haggar who sang the lyrics and offered it as a form of courtesy to 12,000 Egyptians in military prisons. The video clip that was directed by Hatem El Sayed portrays El Haggar sitting in a prison cell handcuffed, with overlapping footage of current scenes of the revolution as well as some of the military sentenced civilians such as Kareem El Behairy and Alaa Abdel Fatah. The lyrics of the song basically predict the reign and triumph of the revolution, and declares that those who oppose it will lose everything, because the only remaining reality will be the “laughs of the inmates” The song was musically composed by Farouk El Sharnooby, distributed by Mohamed Hamdy Raouf and sung by Ali El Haggar for the first time at Sakyet El Sawi last November , and was officially released yesterday.
