"Al-Manassa", a film written by journalist Adel Hammoudah ten years ago, was prohibited from display by the Egyptian Films Control. The story is about the assassination of President Anwar El Sadat. The makers of this film were surprised to finally receive an approval to display it.According to the film director, Mounir Radi, to CNN, he believes that this is part of the change Egypt is going through after the 25 Jan revolution. "After all, Mubarak who stopped the film from display is in prison under trial and Aboud El Zomor one of the films leading men is outside prison living whatever is left of his life!" he said.Radi said that the film took 10 years in the making, and that a special archived material had to be purchased from London about the assassination and the period of El Sadat's ruling period. The film represents two major parts in that period: the main cultural figures in Egypt and the major arresting campaigns he practiced in September 1981, and the life of Khaled Eleslamboly and his partners and how they planned the assassination at the "Manassa".Radi also stated that he will discuss the film with El Zomor before preparation for the shooting since he is one of the major characteristics in the film and it is only ethical to do that!
