Just a few days after Disney announced "John Carter" financial loss of over 200 million dollars; MGM followed them and announced "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" also caused yield loss for them. Even though it was a modest loss, but it made them re-consider the budget set for the other two parts of the trilogy based on the bestselling Stieg Larsson novel. "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" did not cross the 100 million dollar of revenue and did not get a nomination for Best Pictures at the Oscars as was expected. Negotiations between MGM and Sony continue to decrease the budget set for the second part "The Girl Who Played with Fire" and whether David Fincher will direct it as he has expressed his lack of enthusiasm regarding that. However, they have announced that lead actors Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig are still to star in the 2nd and 3rd part.
