Even though the story is set in a brutal future; the reality for “The Hunger Games” is glorious and promising. Taking over the success from the best seller by Suzanne Collins with the positive critic feedback and a wide audience demand to watch it; the new action sci-fi pulled in 155 million dollars in weekend box office sales in the US alone. With this amazing revenue, “The Hunger Games” is marked the best opening night for a non-sequel and the 3rd best opening after “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” in 2011 with 168 million dollars at opening night and “The Dark Knight” in 2008 with 158 million. “The Hunger Games” is about a reality TV game where 24 contestants fight in a part entertainment, part brutal competition and they are forced to eliminate each other, literally. The winner is the last one alive! A young girl, Katniss Everdeen- played by Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence- volunteers to take her younger sister’s place in the last match. In a few days, the film will open worldwide and it is expected to cross the billion dollar gross barrier even though its cost did not cross 100 million dollars. Warner Brothers, producers, are planning for the 2nd and 3rd parts as the bestseller trilogy and they will continue with director Gary Ross for his great success in part 1.
