Gulf Film Festival Short Film Script Competition winners announced.

With the presence of a large number of directors and cinematic experts; the winners of the 1st edition of the "Gulf Script Market for Short Films" displayed their work and projects. The Festival aimed through this Market to support the field of cinematic script writing by presenting storage of professional scripts. The Market went through three stages; the first was calling out for all authors and script writers to present their projects to the market and over a 100 scripts were produced. The second was inviting those writers to participate in intensive educational workshops run by Egyptian director and script writer Mohamed Khan, Lebanese producer, script writer and multi-award winner Michelle Kammoun, and Bahrini author and script writer Farid Ramadan. The third and final stages was the chance for those scripts to see they light by inviting the winners to sit with a team of experts that will help them turn their projects into films.From the UAE, script writer Sheikha El Ayali won with "563 Dirhams" and Amal Al Dowaila won with "Matar – Rain". From Bahrain came Fatheya Nasser with her winning script "Hayat – Life" and other winners came from Qatar, Iraq and Belgium and their scripts varied between social documentaries and surrealism drama. Director Mohamed Khan said the scripts presented were ambitious and their stories are worth turning into films.
