Variety Magazine, a cinema oriented magazine, published a report about the challenges facing Egyptian cinema after the revolution.Nick Vivarelli, writer of the report, focused on the contradiction the Egyptian film industry is currently going through, as given the political conditions, revolution oriented films should be taking over; however, the commercial films are dominating the industry. While the revolution's films producers are striving to participate in international festivals mainly with documentaries. The report also stated that all revolution oriented films were declined by the general crowd and were total failures. It added that the grants given out by the Ministry of Culture to support production of long and short feature films and documentaries have opened the door for filmmakers to get creative, like Mohamed Khan with his film "Fatat El masnaa" or "Factory Girl".The magazine quoted "Mohamed Hefzy", owner of Film Clinic production company, saying that the upcoming period will witness great conflicts between filmmakers and those who want to oppress creativity in films. For example, Ahmed Abdallah,,director of "Farsh w ghata" was denied filming inside a mosque in Cairo.
