The poster for Ryan Gosling's new film "Only God Forgives" has arrived. The half of his face that isn't obscured in shadow is severely battered to the point of mutilation. Despite his disturbingly disfigured appearance, the 32-year-old dreamboat somehow manages to maintain his unusually high levels of charm.
The film revolves around a family steeped in criminal activity. Gosling plays Julian, who runs a boxing club in Bangkok which serves as a front to his family's drug smuggling operation. When his brother is killed, Julian's mother, played by the formidable Kristin Scott Thomas, encourages him to seek revenge.
The film was directed and written by Nicolas Winding Refn, who previously directed Gosling in "Drive." Gosling told IndieWire that the screenplay for "Only God Forgives" was "the strangest thing I've ever read."
You've never led us astray before, Ryan. The thriller, due to come out in the fall of 2013, sounds delightfully seedy.
