Earlier this week, Kate Winslet's publicist confirmed that the 37-year-old married her 34-year-old boyfriend Ned Rocknroll in a private ceremony earlier this month. Rocknroll, who legally changed his name from Ned Abel Smith, is the nephew of Virgin Megastores owner Richard Branson. He works at Virgin Galactic as "Head of Marketing Promotion and Astronaut," which sounds make-believe but isn't.
The company is planning to offer commercial flights to space as early as next year. Taking the cake for most amazing wedding gift, Ned gave his new bride a trip up to space. Branson gave the free flight as a kind of reward for Kate, who amazingly saved his 90-year-old mother from a fire on Necker Island while on vacation last year. A pair that honeymoons in space ought to have an equally mind-boggling meeting story. Ned and Kate first met after she saved his grandmother from this fire.
Rocknroll has a reputation for being a popular London party boy, with an eccentric streak. They seem to make each other happy though. To make the whole affair sweeter, Kate's "Titanic" co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio, reportedly walked her down the isle. The two have remained close since their 1997 breakout roles.
