Ben Affleck wins Best Director at Critic’s Choice Award.

Just a few hours after being ignored bythe Oscars in the same category; Ben Affleck won fair and square the Critic’sChoice Best Director Award. Affleck thanked the Academy (referring to theOscars) while accepting the award, he was joking of course. To many cinematicthis came to a surprise and as strong message in the Academy’s face when itcomes to appreciating excellent made films as “Argo” also won Best Picture.

Afflecksurpassed Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln” which won three awards only, Best Actor forDaniel Day-Lewis, Best Original Soundtrack and Best Adapted Screenplay. Affleckalso beat Kathryn Bigelow’s “Zero Dark Thirty”, Tom Hooper’s “Les Misérables”,Ang Lees “Life of Pi”, and David Russell’s “Silver Linings Playbook”.

Jessica Chastain walked away with the BestActress Award for her role in “ Zero Dark Thirty” which won the Best EditingAward. And after a strong competition, the Best Supporting Actor Award went toSeymour Hoffman for his role in “ The Master”, and Best Supporting Actressaward went to Anne Hathaway for her outstanding and breathe taking performancein “Les Misérables”.

Child actress link scored anew achievement after being nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars – and beingthe youngest actress ever to receive this nomination, she won Best Young Actor/Actressaward for her role in “Beasts of the Southern Wild”. Best Ensemble Award went tothe dynamic team behind “Silver Linings Playbook” which won Best Comedy, its leadactor Bradley Cooper won the Best Actor in a Comedy role award and its leadactress Jennifer Lawrence was named Best Actress in a Comedy.

The Critics gave the Best OriginalScreenplay to “Django Unchained”, Best Art Direction to ”Anna Karenina” whichalso received Best Costume Design award while Best Makeup went to”Cloud Atlas”and Best Cinematography and Best Visual Effects went to ”Life of Pi”.

In the action films category; the 007 “Skyfall”won Best Picture and its lead actor Daniel Craig won Best Actor, while JenniferLawrence snatched the second Best Actress award for her role in the movie TheHunger Games.

“Wreck-It Ralph” was named Best Animatedand Best Sci-fi/Horror Award went to “Looper”, and Best Foreign Language Film wentto “Amour” which is expected to get the Academy Award this year in the samecategory. Best documentary went to “Searching for Sugar Man” and Adele received Best Soundtrackfor her “Skyfall”song.
