After a few publications had reported that the show "Al Mehdi" starring Mohamed Hamaki had been cancelled, producer Remon Makar released a media statement saying that these rumors had absolutely no basis in truth.

He said that Hamaki had signed onto the project with Egypt's Arts Company to start shooting in mid-April. Makar added that before all of that they must do rehearsals in their multiple locations, which requires a significant amount of time.

The show revolves around the young doctor "Mehdi" who inherits a hospital from his father. He soon discovers his father was really engaged in an illegal drug trade, for which the hospital was the cover. He refuses to take part in the crime, and finds himself embroiled in major conflicts that reveal the seedy underbelly of the world of businessmen and doctors.

"Al Mehdi" was written by Mahmoud Gamal and is produced by Makar and Mohamed Mahmoud Abdel Aziz. According to Makar, the series will air in the Ramadan 2013 season.
