Two Moses Films on the Way from Hollywood

Maybe it's a belated reaction to the Mayan "apocalypse," but there seems to be a renewed interest in biblical epics, as there are now two Moses projects in the works in Hollywood.

The first, "Exodus," will be helmed by "Alien" director Ridley Scott, and the other, entitled "Gods and Kings," was lined up to be directed by Steven Spielberg. Apparently he's passed on the project, leaving it wide open to now Oscar-bearer Ang Lee. Deadline.com is reporting that "Batman" star Christian Bale will be playing Moses in Ridley Scott's "Exodus."

The most famous on-screen depiction of the prophet is "Ben Hur" Oscar-winner Charlton Heston in "The Ten Commandments" (1956).
