Will Smith has opened up about his reasons for turning down the part of Django in Tarantino's " Django Unchained." He readily admitted this week that he felt Christopher Waltz's character, Dr. King Schultz, was the true lead. And Will Smith don't play no second string.

Smith, who makes an estimated $30 million annually, told Entertainment Weekly, "Django wasn't the lead, so it was like, I need to be the lead... The other character was the lead. I was like, 'No, Quentin, please. I need to kill the bad guy!'" Smith ended up loving the final product, in which Jamie Foxx played Django, and said, "I thought it was brilliant. Just not for me."

Django was a massive success, commercially and critically. It won two of its five Oscar nominations - Quentin Tarantino for best original screenplay and Waltz for best supporting actor - and grossed $413 million worldwide.
