And the satirist-newscaster-on-satirist-newscaster love fest continues! This past Friday, link "The Daily Show" Jon Stewart on his popular show "El Bernameg."

Bassem Youssef expressed admiration for Stewart, whose show, which offers up a blend of political satire and comedy in a way that is both erudite and street-smart, initially inspired Youssef to launch his own program after the revolution. Stewart has hosted Youssef on his show twice in the past year. He also dedicated a segment to defending him (and political satire in a supposedly free press) when the Egyptian prosecutor general issued a warrant for Youssef's arrest last March. He was charged with insulting Islam and spreading false news, though the case was eventually dropped.

Stewart stayed in Cairo for three days, during which he visited the major tourist spots and ancient sites. He respectfully marveled at Egypt's "storied history" and great civilization, but suggested traffic lights might be a worthwhile investment.

Stewart is currently taking a break from " The Daily Show" to work on a film with Iranian journalist Maziar Bahari based on Bahari's novel "Then They Came For Me: A Family's Story of Love, Captivity, and Survival." It chronicles his 118-day interrogation by Iranian intelligence forces in 2009.
