At the end of last month, actress Tilda Swinton released a photo of her holding up the rainbow flag in front of the Kremlin, the seat of the government in Russia's capital, Moscow, in support of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community there.
Swinton, who won an Oscar in 2007 for " Michael Clayton," also released this statement with the photograph: "In solidarity. From Russia with love."
Last month, President Vladimir Putin passed a "gay propaganda" law, which fines citizens for providing information about the gay community to minors. As of this year, foreigners in same-sex marriages are also forbidden from adopting Russian babies.
