In an exclusive statement to , famous actress Mohsena Tawfik said she was opposed to the clearing of the Brotherhood's sit-in at Rabaa el Adaweya, saying that despite the crimes committed by the Muslim Brotherhood, the Interior Ministry confronted these crimes with similar crimes, and that they're conducting themselves with the same security logic that was used during the oppressive regime of former President Hosni Mubarak.

Tawfik noted that anyone who uses religion as a political tool will become fascist, but she did not expect the Ikhwan to reach this level of distortion of religion, and brute force in its name.

She also criticized the Egyptian media, saying that it has not maintained any degree of honesty or integrity in dealing with the current situtation. She admired El Baradei's resignation as interim Vice President for International Affairs. Despite disagreeing with him on a range of issues, she sees this move as very courageous.

As for the stances taken by the United States and Europe, the " Iskendereya...Leih?" star said that it is well known that America supports those who support its presence in the region, stressing that the Brotherhood regime was not any different than the Mubarak regime in supporting U.S. hegemony in the region. She emphasized that America will never support people's freedom fully, and is only looking out for American interests.
