Pop star Sherine Abdel Wahab's representatives just released a statement clarifying what really went down at her concert in Tatwan, Morocco, last Saturday. A number of reports claimed that the star was booed off stage and didn't finish her performance after chanting in support of Egyptian military chief, General Abdel Fattah el Sisi.

According to the reports, Sherine chanted "tahya Sisi" (long live Sisi), which was met by the audience's harsh condemnation and protest at her expressing something they considered racist and could incite violence. It is well known that a majority of Tetwan's residents support the Muslim Brotherhood.

The text of Wahab's statement says, "The artist Sherine had a successful concert in the city of Tetwan in conjunction with a festival of women's voices. Sherine sang for a period of 80 minutes, and did not face any problems during the concert. All of the articles about problems at the concert are lies written by people with sick minds, and all the reports being disseminated are false and mere rumors."

Sherine had announced over Facebook that her Moroccan audience was very respectful and appreciative of the arts, and she did not experience any personal abuse or attacks of any form during the concert, which necessitated a clarification of these false reports.
