A Filmmakers Committee To Nominate an Egyptiam Movie to the Oscars

Egyptian Creativity Front and the Cinema Professions Syndicate have decided to form a committee to nominate an Egyptian movie for the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Movie. The committee consists of critics Samir Farid, Nihad Ibrahim and Tarek el Shinnawi, screenwriters Mohamed Eladl and Sayed Fouad, director Sherif Arafa, producer Hussein El Kola, cinematographer Kamal Abd El Aziz, set decorator fawzi Elawamri, actor Khaled El Sawy and the head of Cinema Professions Syndicate Mosaad Foda.

The Creativity Front appealed to filmmakers interested in nominating their films to submit their movies to the Cinema Professions Syndicate before September 25th. Submitted movies have to be already commercially screened between September 2012 and October 2013.

Under the Academy regulations, the nominated movie should provide a “35mm” or a “DCB” translated copyof the movie, sent to the committee before September 25th. The regulations also state that entity with the right to nominate a movie should be a civil, nongovernmental and elected one.
